Café Oporto is a neighbourhood bar in the truest sense of the word. Since opening its doors in 1889 it has been the home of cold beer, good music, and endless stories in the heart of Amsterdam's Dam Square. The historic bruin bar interior, untouched by time, lends the perfect backdrop to your Amsterdam experience.
We open every morning at 11:00 for coffee or a cold drink to kick off your day. Our friendly English and Dutch speaking staff are happy to share local knowledge and recommendations for exploring the city. Later in the day stop in for a few hours to throw darts and hide out from the crowds on the nearby Nieuwendijk.
In the evening we are your home away from home, your favourite local pub, your oasis from the chaotic city streets. The candles are lit and the music heats up. Strike up a conversation with one of our colourful regulars or try to convince the barman to play your song request. Or simply sit back, relax and enjoy your evening in the cozy glow of the historic Café Oporto.
